Looking after your Cartref a Gardd Welsh Candle:

Burn

The first burn is the most important.  This creates the blueprint for how the candle will burn during future use.  You should let our candles produce a melt pool that extends all the way to the edge of the container on the first burn (or as close to the edge as you can).

Do not let candles burn longer than 4 hours at a time.  This is an important rule for any candle type or make. if you require candles lit for longer than 4 hours, it is best to extinguish one and light another.

Time

Our candles burn very well but they last their longest and remain at their best if you limit each burn time to the same number of hours as the initial burn time.  This keeps the wick:wax ratio at its optimum during the burn.

Trim

The wick length is extremely important to keep in check.  Our wicks are self-trimming but still benefit from a trim after each burn to around 5mm (or 1/8th inch).  This will help avoid burning the wax too quickly and sooty deposits.  Ensure that the wick is not lit and the wax is completely cool before trimming.
